Assemblyman Jim Beall, D-San Jose, has introduced a bill that would ban the use of “non-scientific theories” in court cases. This bill would prevent the use of a theory called “parental alienation syndrome,” or PAS. This is the idea that one parent seeks to alienate a child against the other parent, leading them to level untrue accusations of abuse or neglect.

Many of you may know my story of parental abduction (a tactic of parental alienation). Kidnapped at two years old by my father, I finally reunited with my mother thirty-one years later. PA is simply brainwashing/mind conditioning. It’s especially difficult when one parent is aggressive and the other passive. Of course the alienator is the aggressive (strong) one and young children, needing to feel safe, will follow the strong parent; the parent they feel is the safer, stronger parent.
Along the same lines, the child will not want to reap the abuse he/she sees the alienated parent receiving.
Our children are vulnerable and innocent. Most of us realize the alienation as we grow…
