The last 6 months have been painful. After Christmas break it was obvious that something had happened with my now 14yo daughter while at her Dad's and stepmom's. Does anyone know of any good articles about the detrimental effects on kids when they are denied a relationship with one parent? My kids and I had a great loving relationship until I was "replaced" by a new wife. I am looking for some kind of documentation by people with the right letters after their name to back up what we all know----it hurts the kids!! Thanks Colleen

Over Labor Day weekend my kids were with their Dad and stepmom. When they came home my 13yo daughter was noticeably upset. She ended up telling me that her stepmom told her that if she wanted to come live with them then she would have to start acting like my older sons did (hostile, disrespectful, rebellious etc.). I am new here today. My story, like many of yours, is long and has spanned a number of years seemingly without any progress to show for it. I have had my relationship with my 2 oldest children 17 and 15 completely severed. They only live 10 miles away but I haven't had any contact in well over a year.
