Hi Najiyyah and thank you for forming this group. I've been an advocate for the "differently able" sense 1968 and the very beginnings of reforming our system to a more inclusional one, as exists today, though we have a very long way to go. I'm extremely busy with campaign for my organization right now but I should have more time in a couple months. I would be happy to help you with CFR, e/g ADA, IDEA, FAPE, etc. etc. which I'm fluent in and also helped to develop over the years...sense 1973 or so. Will get back with you as time will allow. Ron G.

PS, there are many SN links on my webpage here, and our President has a Ph.D MS.ph, QMRP and has worked with disabled for many years, as I have. Here: http://ewointl.spaces.live.com/

You can find the SN links in the left-hand column.

Thank you for signing up for Special People Meet. I believe that each child with or without a disability should have a relationship with both parents. They truly need the love and support. Your sister's father has rights. I would tell him to petition the courts for visitation and joint custody/guardianship. I know there are a lot of issues dealing with parental rights, which is why I am a member of this site. I will try and find an avocacy organization for you sisters father. When I do I will get back to you. Again, thank you for your comment and support.

I have a sister that is 19 years old and autistic. She is curretly under guardianship of our mother. Unfortunately our mother is refusing to allow her ay time with our father. Any thoughts on guardians alienating their adult children from other family members???
