Comment by Phillip Bradshaw on November 7, 2008 at 5:15pm - The fact that the Constitution is a contract of the people putting restrictions on the power of government, and that innumerable rights not mentioned in the constitution are also protected, implies a strict standard on the power of government, not a strict standard of the rights of the people. Basic human rights, as to life and liberty, are beyond the jurisdiction of the Republican form of government established by our Constitution, therefore the actions of the courts, military, or other agencies to restrict these rights or deny them is in fact subversive tyranny.
