Who Said Lightning Doesn't Strike Twice in Same Place?

Domestic Abuse/Custody Expert Cleared of all Charges

[Tampa Bay, Florida...July 20, 2008] On January 28th of this year, nearly a quarter century after Dean Tong was arrested and cleared for allegedly molesting his then 3 year-old out of a bitter divorce and custody battle (www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-8221961.html), he was arrested for allegedly abusing his second wife and tampering with evidence in their divorce proceedings. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,327464,00.html He was charged by information for the alleged crimes on March 12th.

Tong, who took his 1985 experience and wrote three books, and built a successful career as a consultant and expert witness on contested divorces, child custody battles and protracted abuse, has vehemently denied the charges. “It’s like lightning striking twice in the same place,” Tong said on a radio show the day after he learned he was going to be officially cleared of all charges by the State of Florida. It wasn’t until he received a certified Nolle Prosequi (see attached) from the Tampa prosecutor's office that he truly felt exonerated. http://abuse-excuse.com/pdf-files/NoticeofNolleProssefiled071108.pdf & http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/jul/15/me-family-rights-expert-avo...

"I'm very grateful this almost 6 month nightmare is finally over, exclaimed Tong! Sadly, my case sends a chilling message to those women who are genuine victims of domestic violence and I pray that new laws are enacted to better train law enforcement to differentiate real from fake cases, and punish false accusers. Until that happens, wrongfully accused will be prosecuted and women who truly need protection will be ignored.”

Tong will hold as press conference on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. EST in front of the George Edgecomb Courthouse, located at the corners of Pierce and Twiggs Streets.

Great job!! Too bad MANY people profit from FALSE allegations and FEW profit from prosecuting false accusations. So, we know where that is going to go. I just negotiated a 1 year probation term for a guy who was falsely accused of felony domestic battery. After being so close to many of these cases I would have to personally witness it before I would ever vote to convict someone.
What a great danger these false accusers have put true victims in.

All malicious false allegations of domestic violence should be prosecuted via a third degree felony to if nothing else as a deterrent to doing so.
